Serbia is set to receive €1.63 billion as part of the new Western Balkans growth plan over the next four years, out of the €6 billion allocated by the EU for the region.
The allocation, based on population and GDP, designates €969 million for Bosnia and Herzegovina, €924 million for Albania, €807 million for North Macedonia, €888 million for Kosovo, and €388 million for Montenegro.
This funding represents nearly 30% of the total growth fund for Serbia. The actual disbursement will depend on the EU’s assessment of Serbia’s progress in key reform areas such as rule of law, democratic systems, relations with Kosovo, and alignment with EU foreign policy. These funds are in addition to previously agreed IPA pre-accession funds.
Initial payments could arrive before the summer break, with Serbia and other regional countries already submitting reform proposals in key sectors: rule of law, business climate, human capital development, energy and green transition, and digital sector.
